Bacton is known for its very quiet sandy beaches offering miles of walking along the beach and cliffs. The England Coast Path passes through the village and also the Paston Way long-distance footpath linking Cromer and North Walsham.
The village boasts a fish and chip shop, two cafes, a church, convenience store, takeaway, laundry services and a pub a 10 minute walk away.
Bacton is pleasant sandy beach that stretches all the way to Mundesley in one direction and Walcott in the other. It is never busy at Bacton beach as there is no shortage of room. There is also a car park at Cable Gap with sloped access.
Like Horsey beach a few miles down the coast Bacton is a good place to spot a seal or two. Grey seals and pups are commonly sighted along this stretch of coast over the winter months, so make sure you pop along to see them.
The bustling market town of Norwich is about 45 minutes away with its picturesque lanes, buzzy market, cultural displays and dining treats. And of course there are our two famous Cathedrals and Norwich Castle, which was built by the Normans as a Palace over 900 years ago. It is now a museum and art gallery where children can discover more about East Anglia’s own Queen Boudicca. The Museum of Norwich is packed full of exhibitions and interactive displays, or why not enjoy taking the hop-on-hop-off bus to see the city.
Wroxham – the heart of the broads, is the perfect place for boat tours, day boat hire, shopping, or to visit Wroxham Barns – a family adventure park with rides, animals, shopping, dining, a maize maze, and so much more – it’s also where our office is based so why not call in and say hi!

We all enjoyed a relaxing week away at Vale Cottage. The cottage is spacious and well suited for accomodating families and pets (we are two families of four with four Labradors between us). The beach is a ten minute walk away and is very large and dog-friendly - our dogs had an absolute blast on this holiday! The cottage is in a quiet location with a very private outdoor area with a BBQ and a lovely hot tub. There is a pretty herb and vegetable garden and guests are invited to help themselves, which we did! Our highlights include swimming in the sea with seals and hiring a day boat on the Norfolk Broads. East Coast Holidays were very helpful and available to assist with any immediate queries
A lovely stay in Vale Cottage, perfect for allowing everyone in our family of 6 a space of their own. Good Wifi and Sky TV kept the teens happy and the hot tub was a great addition even in the colder weather. A lovely spot to explore Norfolk from and a great time was had by all. East Coast Hideaways were excellent, making sure the cottage was made up as we wanted and a lovely welcome hamper, would definitely recommend.
Excellent stay with East Coast Hideaways in Bacton. The property was in such a great location, short walk from the beach and local shop. The property itself was much bigger than expected, the hot tub was a great addition to our stay. All in all a great holiday and I would highly recommend East Coast Hideaways.
Thank you so much for stepping in at such short notice and managing to accommodate us and our fur babies. We had our booking, (that we’d made a year previous,)cancelled a week before we were due to go with a different company. The company contacted East Coast Hideaways who stepped up and offered us alternative accommodation and saved the day. We all had a fantastic holiday and really appreciate everything you did to ensure our holiday actually happened. Vale Cottage was a great house and we loved our stay. The hot tub was an added bonus!! Nobody wanted to go home!!❤️
We've just had a fabulous stay at Vale Cottage, everything was top quality and gave us everything we needed for a comfortable holiday, the hot tub was perfect and the goodie bag was much appreciated the Muntjac deer caused a bit of a flap when our dogs spotted them in the garden though! 10/10 from us.
We had a wonderful stay at Vale Cottage. The cottage itself was charming and very well equipped for our family of 6 and 2 dogs! The hot tub was a wonderful addition and made our evenings very relaxing! This was our first visit to Norfolk and we found the location absolutely perfect to explore the coast north and south of Bacton. The seals at Horsey Gap were a real highlight, and we enjoyed a lovely afternoon at Sea Palling too. We will definitely be returning!
