DeBerri is a serene countryside retreat with four ensuite bedrooms, vaulted beams and sweeping rural views. Set along a private driveway on a historic manor estate, it offers a warm, welcoming escape rooted in heritage. Part of an estate recorded in the Domesday Book, the barn has been thoughtfully reimagined with quiet luxury and considered detail.

With four beautifully finished ensuite bedrooms, a vast open-plan living space and a private enclosed garden, DeBerri gives groups generous room to gather, relax and recharge. Its original architecture remains proudly on show, with vaulted ceilings, exposed oak beams, Suffolk brickwork and pamment-style flooring, all softened with calm textures and carefully chosen, high-quality furnishings. Light pours in from every direction, creating interiors that feel both expansive and deeply inviting.

The layout is intentionally fluid: generous social spaces for spending time together, quiet nooks for slipping away with a book, and a seamless connection between the lounge, kitchen, garden room and outdoor terrace. It’s a place designed for slow mornings, long meals, fireside evenings and countryside walks straight from the doorstep.

Fressingfield and the local area

DeBerri is located just 1½ miles southeast of Fressingfield, a well-loved Suffolk village offering.

Fressingfield is filled with character and surrounded by beautiful countryside. At the heart of the village is The Fox & Goose, a multiple award-winning pub and restaurant with a reputation far beyond the county. There’s also a second, more traditional village pub, a well stocked local shop, medical centre, and three churches.

On sunny days you’ll see walkers and cyclists heading out into the quiet lanes; on winter evenings the pubs glow with locals tucked in for the night. It’s a great base with everything you’ll need.

Harleston (6 miles)

A small, historic market town with a proper Suffolk high street: cafés, bakeries, antique shops, boutiques, delis, and a weekly market. There’s a large Co-op, several dog friendly pubs, and a mix of independent shops. Harleston is the nearest place for a quick stock up or a coffee and mooch morning.

Framlingham (10 miles)

Best known for its 12th-century castle, Framlingham is postcard pretty and always buzzing. There are artisan bakeries, cosy tea rooms, boutique shops, a fantastic market square, great butchers and delis, and regular events around the town. Perfect for a half day outing or lunch followed by a castle walk around the Mere.

Diss (14 miles)

A traditional market town set around the Mere (a large natural lake) with supermarkets, cafés, a weekly market, and a direct train line to London Liverpool Street. Diss is a great spot for rainy day browsing, bigger supermarkets, or a wander around the antiques barns.

Halesworth (14 miles)

A warm, cultural little town with quirky independent shops, cafes and galleries. Home to The Cut Arts Centre, seasonal events, and a lovely riverside walk around the old railway line. Halesworth is also a popular gateway to the Suffolk Coast (Southwold, Walberswick, Dunwich etc., around 25-30 minutes from here).

Walks Directly from DeBerri

There are several footpaths and quiet lane routes right from the driveway:

  • Chippenhall Loop (30-45 mins)
  • A gentle circular route across fields and along peaceful lanes. Mostly flat, easy underfoot and perfect for dog walks or early evening strolls.
  • The Fressingfield Footpath (approx. 1-1.5 hours)
  • Pick up the footpath that leads towards Fressingfield village. You’ll cross open farmland, skirt hedgerows and eventually join the quiet back lanes into the village. Ideal for walking to the Fox & Goose for lunch (you can always taxi back!)

Short Drives to Excellent Walks

  • Diss Mere – a flat, scenic loop around water, dotted with cafés for a tea break or cake-fuelled pit stop.
  • Halesworth Millennium Green – 50 acres of meadows, streams and wildlife paths.
  • Thorpness and Aldeburgh Coastal Paths – around 30-35 mins away for those salty sea-air days.

Coastal days out

Beyond the immediate countryside, DeBerri is brilliantly placed for day trips to the Suffolk Coast. Southwold, with its famous pier and pastel beach huts, is around 35 minutes away; Walberswick offers crabbing, dunes and a slower, nostalgic coastal feel; Thorpeness is known for its Meare, House in the Clouds and quirky charm; and Aldeburgh brings shingle beaches, fish and chip classics and a thriving arts scene. It’s the perfect blend of countryside calm at home, and the coast within easy reach whenever you fancy.
