Cransley sleeps up to six guests across three inviting bedrooms – two doubles and a twin room, all with plenty of storage and soft furnishings to make you feel right at home.
After a day on the beach, rinse off the sand in the family bathroom (with bath and overhead shower), or use the separate electric shower room for a quick refresh before dinner.
The private enclosed garden is a real treat, ideal for morning coffees, evening drinks, or simply relaxing in the sunshine. There’s outdoor seating, a lawn for dogs and kids to play, and space to unwind after your coastal adventures.
You’ll also have free parking on-site, and everything is single-level, making Cransley great for guests who prefer easy access (one step in to the property).
Cransley isn’t just a holiday home, it’s part of one family’s story that’s spanned generations.
The owner’s grandparents first fell in love with Scratby in the 1950s, visiting often with their children. When this house came up for sale in the late ’60s, her grandfather bought it as a seaside retreat for his beloved wife, and it’s been the family’s second home ever since.
The original house sadly burned down in the late ’80s, but the family rebuilt it together, designing the bungalow around one idea: space for everyone to gather, laugh, and make memories.
Today, Cransley still belongs to the family, who continue to visit often. Photos from those early seaside holidays are pinned proudly on the lounge noticeboard, a quiet reminder of summers gone by and the timeless magic of Scratby.
You’ll also find plenty of thoughtful extras:
Scratby offers a perfect coastal retreat, with its sandy beach just a short stroll from Cransley. Spend sun-soaked days by the sea, exploring the coastal path along the rugged cliffs, building sandcastles, or taking a refreshing dip in the North Sea. The tranquil atmosphere of Scratby makes it an ideal spot for a relaxing beach holiday.
A quick note for sea swimmers, the currents here can be strong, and there’s no lifeguard service on Scratby Beach. We recommend avoiding inflatables, as they can easily be pulled out to deeper water. It’s a beautiful and natural beach, but best enjoyed with care and awareness of the tides.
Once there, you’ll find Hemsby’s lively beach scene, full of arcades, cafés, traditional fish and chips, and seaside fun. For a little local gem closer to home, don’t miss Scratby Bakery, it’s absolutely fantastic, with freshly baked cakes, filled rolls, and pastries, all made by a lovely local lady. Perfect for grabbing breakfast on the way to the beach or a sweet treat with your afternoon tea.
For those seeking more adventure, the Norfolk Broads – a stunning network of rivers and lakes, await just a short drive away. You can hire a boat, enjoy some fishing, or explore the area’s nature reserves on foot, soaking in the peace and beauty of this unique landscape.
A visit to the bustling seaside town of Great Yarmouth is also a must, just a short drive from Cransley. This historic town is brimming with excitement and entertainment. Wander down the famous Golden Mile, lined with amusement arcades, candyfloss stalls, and the thrilling rides of Pleasure Beach. Take a walk along the historic Britannia Pier for breathtaking coastal views, or stop by the SEA LIFE Great Yarmouth Aquarium to get up close with fascinating marine life – from graceful seahorses to awe-inspiring sharks.
For a dose of history, explore Great Yarmouth’s rich maritime past at the Time and Tide Museum, housed in a beautifully restored Victorian herring curing works, where you can learn about the town’s seafaring heritage.
With so much to offer, Cransley is your gateway to a world of coastal delights.
