Misty Meadow, Hickling
In the quiet Broads village of Hickling and a very short drive from the coast, Misty Meadow has 6 bedrooms to sleep 12 but we can offer smaller group discounts outside the main part of the season. 2 of the bedrooms are downstairs, so very handy if you have anyone in your group who is less able bodied. All of the bedrooms have beds that can be made up as double or twins, so lots of flexibility and space.
There are plenty of quiet walks, dog friendly, sandy, quiet beaches nearby, the Norfolk Broads for boat hire, fishing, bird watching and walking. The garden is HUGE, grass and very secure too, with a huge 6 person tub which you can see from the kitchen window
There is plenty of parking in the gravel drive for up to 6 cars, and a large hallway for all your muddy boots and bags. In the downstairs bedrooms 1 & 2, a super-king zip link bed in this room means that it can be double or twin beds, chest of drawers, wardrobe, and bedside cabinets. Lovely view over the front garden.
KITCHEN & UTILITY ROOM
Very generous sized kitchen which has been completely refurbished recently and comes with a large 6 person dining table, lots of cupboard space, fridge, dishwasher, microwave, slow cooker and 5 ring induction range oven. Just off the kitchen, there is a really good size utility room, which leads straight in from the garden. There'a a butler sink, freezer, washing machine, tumble dryer, and all the cleaning bits you might need to clean down the kids and dog!
Decent size downstairs bathroom for the whole family to use during the day, and within stumbling distance from the two downstairs bedroom in the middle of the night.
LIVING ROOM & CONSERVATORY
This really good sized room that covers the whole width of the house, comes with a wood-burner and flat-screen TV and brand new leather sofas and armchairs, enough space for everyone to sit together! The room boasts three different viewpoints, so you can watch the kids in the adjoining room or enjoy the sun pouring in from the garden. The house comes with a gorgeous, bright conservatory room, with panoramic views of the garden, a large dining table that seats 12, and a sideboard full of board games.
Bedrooms 3, 4, 5 & 6 - All rooms come with a super-king zip link bed, which means they can be made up as double or twin beds, wardrobes, bedside units, and views of either the front and back gardens. There is a large upstairs bathroom with bath and two additional showers over the bath, one mixer, the other electric, with toilet and sink. It also has a separate shower room, with large shower and Mira mixer, toilet and sink.
GARDEN & HOT TUB
A huge space with three separate entrances, about half an acre of land, mostly lush green lawn, with trees and shrubs, surrounded by 6 feet high solid fencing – for maximum privacy and safety. The hot tub and the best part of the house! There’s a large newly built patio area that houses a Sundance hot tub under a big wooden pergola and is suitable for 5/6 adults. There’s also a drum style BBQ for your use. Heaven!
Misty Meadow has six bedrooms and can sleep 12 people, but please don’t let that put you off if you are in a smaller group – we are more than happy to host you and discounts are available, especially outside of peak season.

All of the bedrooms have zip link beds, that can be made up as double or twins, so lots of flexibility and loads of space.
There is a £150 charge for hot tub usage, which covers all cleaning, materials and chemicals between guests.

- A basket of wood and a scuttle of coal for the wood-burner – further supplies are easily available locally. There is an honesty box for more wood – we ask for £5 per large basket.
Hickling Broad is a short walk away and is a 600-hectare nature reserve, managed by the Norfolk Wildlife Trust, it’s also an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It has the largest reed-bed in England and hosts some rare insects and birds. You can also hire boats from here as well as visit the two lovely waterside pubs!
The nearby market town of Stalham lies within the Norfolk Broads. With a bustling high street and supermarket, you can visit here to stock up upon your arrival. Once you’ve settled in, why not hire a boat from nearby Stalham Staithe and spend the day looking for the elusive kingfishers!
Potter Heigham is a village on the River Thurne and is situated 12 miles north of Norwich and only 6 miles from Misty Meadow. The village is known for its medieval bridge, two national nature reserves, day boat hire and the Weavers Way footpath.
Address and directions
Follow the A149 (from Norwich towards Stalham) and continue past Stalham for 2.8 miles. Turn left onto New Road (just past Catfield) and follow this for 0.6 of a mile. Turn left at the junction and follow this road (Heath Road) into the village for about a mile. At The Greyhound (dog friendly) pub, turn right down Stubb Road. Follow this road for approximately 0.1 of a mile and take the first turning on your left. Misty Meadow is the second cottage after the turn.
