Trusthorpe & The Local Area

Tucked quietly between Sutton-on-Sea and Mablethorpe, Trusthorpe is one of those blink-and-you’ll-miss-it coastal gems — all the better for it. Life here moves at an easy pace: dog walkers heading for the dunes, kids with ice creams bigger than their faces, and the sound of gulls instead of traffic.

The beach at Trusthorpe is a wide, sandy stretch that stays beautifully peaceful even in summer, and it’s dog-friendly all year round, so no awkward “no dogs beyond this point” signs to dodge. You can walk for miles along the coast path — North towards Mablethorpe’s vintage amusements and beach huts, or South to Sutton-on-Sea for a gentler, old-school seaside vibe with cafés, fish and chips and the occasional donkey ride.

There are seals and newborn pups are on the beach in November and December.

If you fancy exploring further, the Lincolnshire Coast is packed with hidden corners:

  • Mablethorpe (5 mins) – traditional seaside fun with arcades, the Seal Sanctuary, and plenty of beachfront cafés. There is also a brand new swimming pool complex in Maplethorpe for those who prefer to swim in a pool.
  • Sutton-on-Sea (5 mins) – pretty pastel beach huts, quiet sands, and some cracking coffee spots.
  • Theddlethorpe Dunes National Nature Reserve (20 mins) – wild, windswept beauty and incredible dog-walking territory.
  • Louth (40 mins) – a handsome Georgian market town with a proper butcher, baker, and artisan everything.
  • Gibraltar Point (40 mins) – bird-watching heaven and a gorgeous coastal nature reserve near Skegness.

If you’re bringing kids, there’s a Seal Sanctuary, crazy golf, and even Mablethorpe’s beach train to hop between the attractions.

Walkers:  (Great with or without a dog)

Besides the beach and promenade, there are lots of nearby countryside walks you may enjoy.

Golfers:

Golfers can head to Woodhall Spa – home of England Golf, Louth, or Skegness, for some top golf courses.
