We don’t know about you, but we’ve had enough of winter now!
We can’t wait for lighter evenings, the smell of cut grass, and getting outside for new adventures. With three bank holidays in Spring it gives you three separate chances to travel somewhere… and why not try beautiful Norfolk. It’s a glorious time of year to visit, with some incredible walking trails abundant with flora and fauna, baby lambs being born, Easter egg hunts in some of the fabulous stately homes, and bluebells spreading over acres of woodlands and spring festivals in the region.
But what else does Norfolk have to offer you this spring? There are so many places to visit you’ll be hard pressed to choose, so we’ve listed our top 3 favourite things to do:
Wroxham Barns
With little boutique shops to browse and shop, which offer everything from unique gifts and stylish clothes, to fun toys and delicious foods, there’s also refreshment in the Courtyard Cafe, serving wholesome dishes, hot drinks and afternoon teas.
Then there is the Junior Farm & Fun Park. Tickets offer a super value pay once ticket, which includes Jumping Pillows, Sand Play, Water Wars, Train, Mini Golf, Go Karts, Jumping Frogs, Pirate Ship and Truck Ride. PLUS all the fun of Junior farm including; Guinea Pig village, Goats, Sheep, Alpacas, Chickens, Ponies, Pigs, Runner Ducks, Turkeys & Donkeys, plus Den building and a tree top viewing walkway! Spring also brings lambing season to Wroxham Barns, where you can get involved with feeding and petting, and if you’re feeling clucky, you can even forage for your own eggs! Opening times 10am-5pm for the outer area, 10.30am-5pm for the family fun farm. Booking is advised.
Fairhaven Woodland and Water Garden
Here you will find a little slice of heaven. A garden for all seasons. Open to the public all year round, with 4 miles of woodland pathways to explore with stunning views over their own private part of the broads. At the end of your walk, you can sit down and enjoy one of their famous cream teas or if you’ve worked up a bit of an appetite their roast dinners always hit the spot. Opening times 9am-4pm Saturday-Wednesday. Booking is advised.
Felbrigg Hall, Gardens and Estate.
A stunning example of a 17th Century Hall, with an abundance of art on offer on the inside and high walled gardens that lead nicely to the woodland area on the outside. It’s also perfect for walks with your four-legged friend. To top it off it also has a small array of artisan shops, a quaint tearoom and a second-hand bookstore all within just a few seconds from each other. Opening times 10am-3.30pm. National Trust members have free entry, otherwise booking advised.
