There is a definite chill in the air now, our summer clothes are firmly put away and we are fully embracing all the layers and starting to get in to the festive spirit! Autumn is one of our favourite seasons and even though it’s nice to hole up at home, we think it’s the perfect time of year to visit Norfolk and explore all the stunning countryside, beaches and festive events that are on (whilst also having time to cosy up in one of our stunning self-catering cottages of course!)

Our stunning listing Heidi Corner in Winterton-on-Sea sleeps 4 and is one of our favourite places to escape over winter and you can even take two of your four-legged besties too! This charming coastal cottage is just 350 steps from Winterton’s sand dunes, winter wildlife and beach which is great for long winter dog walks and also for spotting the seals (from a safe distance of course) between Dec-Jan. After a long walk or day out exploring Norfolk, you can unwind in the private covered hot tub with fairy lights and a glass of fizz, or curl up in-front of the fire with a steaming mug of hot cocoa and board-game. There are blankets a-plenty as well as beds and treats for your pooches. Fancy getting out in the evening for some delicious seasonal food? Then there is a cosy dog friendly pub just 2 minutes away The Fisherman’s Return. It serves lots of real ales, has a fire you can snuggle up next to, and use local ingredients – with fresh fish often showing up on their specials board.

One of our newest listings is this gorgeous cottage in Great Massingham – Sleeps 4 with one small dog also welcome. A wonderful place to hideaway in this Winter with a cosy wood-burner and a wonderful hygge vibe! Think a glass of mulled wine snuggled up in-front of the fire with your favourite book. The house is nestled in one of Norfolk’s most attractive villages with a charming duck pond, village green, shop and just minutes away from an award winning pub – The Dabbling Duck! Treat yourself to meal out -they have dishes ranging from good casual pub classics to sophisticated seasonal dishes showcasing the very best of local produce. Or you could even order a take-out to eat in the comfort of Cherry Cottage! Great Massingham is also only a short drive to the North Norfolk coast for some wonderful wintery walks.
Vale Cottage in Bacton is a wonderful place to escape to during the winter – it sleeps 6 adults and 2 children comfortably (there is even a sofa bed in the snug if you need to sleep an extra 2!) and is dog friendly with an enclosed, secure garden. Another of our newer listings, this property sleeps 6 and is the perfect winter retreat by the coast. With Mundesley beach and clifftops just moments away for beautiful winter walks. There is also a fish and chip shop, clothes shop, gift shop, village shop and lots of pubs serving food and drink all within walking distance. You can also cosy up in front of the wood burner with a large glass of red for a family movie night.
